Real Lessons for Rails Deployment

There’s nothing wrong with DIY. But, like working on your own house, it takes a while with the tools before enough community knowledge—as well as personal experience—builds up to the point where you can sort out the best way to do something. Over the last six months, I’ve written a bunch of code, deployed big and small applications, and have tried out all the possible things you can do to deploy them. At this point, I’ve distilled out a smooth working setup using lighty and SwitchTower and a few other tricks. But getting there took time. And, several hard lessons were learned along the way.
